Columbia-born Haider Ackermann was adopted by French parents and spent his childhood in both Africa and Europe. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, he worked as an intern at John Galliano’s Paris offices. Ackermann made his 2002 debut in Paris with the support and encouragement of Belgian fashion designer, Raf Simons. Thanks to his unique creative vision, Ackermann won the prestigious Swiss Textiles Award in 2004. Consistent elements of his work include draping, layering, muted colors, and an overall look of elegant, luxurious street style.
