‘Pleats Please by
Miyake is a premier
example of
“Clothing as a
product” something
that responds to the
evolving needs of a
demanding
lifestyle and
continues to
delight its
wearers’
Continuing Issey Miyake’s ethos of creating a garment from one piece of cloth, Pleats Please was launched in 1993. Having perfected the pleating process since 1973, Pleats Please uses the innovative and industrial process of heat pressing. By taking pattern pieces two and a half to three times larger than the desired size and placing them between cardboard pleat patterns, permanent pleats are created. Made of high quality 100% polyester so to keep the pleats permanent, the collection is designed with practicality in mind – it stores and travels well, requires no ironing and can be machine-washed.
